New XDM40 showing holster wear.

Hello
I just got my XDM40 only 10 days ago. I have not shot it yet. Just wearing it around the farm doing cowboy stuff.
Drawing the weapon and aiming. Im guessing maybe drawing it 200 times.
Im showing wear on the left side front just one inch back from the muzzel. It looks like brases showing thru the black finish. Is the black finish that thin that it will wear of only after 10 days of use ?
Im using the XD holster that came with it .

Check to see if maybe a rivet on your jeans is rubbing on the weapon.

If so, it will clean off fairly easy.

This is common. It has nothing to do with the finish on the weapon.

All guns show wear from holsters. Thats why I like Bi-Tones. Welcome to Carry guns. It's only the surface the hardness is not effected.

No but after 200 draws yes.

HI,, thats what I was thinking..
Because it is brass looking.. but I dont see where it is hitting a brass rivet.
But I think your correct.. Because it does clean off,, but then returns..
??

Thank you James
Yes,, maybe it is only the surface. But after only 10 days ? I am concerned.
But like Jarhead said,, I think it is hitting a rivet on my pants.
Thank you for your quick replies.

see what happens if you wear it with something OTHER than jeans.
Wearing through the finish on an XD is not an easy feat.

Take a bandana and drape it over your belt so that it covers up the rivets and see if you still get brass on the slide.

You could also reposition the holster away from the rivets and see if that helps.

I use a Comp-Tac holster and I don't have that problem anymore because the muzzle does not protrude out the bottom of the holster.

That was to easy.
It is the rivet. When I look at the rivet on the left pocket, it is dull and tarnished.
The right side,, where I wear my gun, is bright shinny brass rivet.
I'll have to do something about that. New holster I guess.
Sorry ,, I just got alarmed for my new pistol.. lol
Thanks all,, for your quick replies and fixes.

No problem. Most of us are here to help.

Of course, there are a few who are not. Don't sweat them.
