What is good XD9sc accuracy?

After not shooting for a couple of decades, I have become interesting in shooting again. I got a XD9sc in December and I have challenged myself to get good with it. I am now shooting 3" groups at 10 yards.

What kind of accuracy can a good shooter expect to achieve with typical range ammo?

Is that from a bench rest or unsupported/off hand?

3 inch groups at 10 yards sound pretty good. I am a novice shooter and I am doing that at 5 yards

For not shooting for that long, that's pretty good. My XD40sc can easily hold all the shots center of mass on a silhouette target at 25yards. Even though it has a short barrel, they are still very accurate. Good luck!

Push yourself, try some shots at 100yds, you might be very surprised.

3" groups at 10 yards, offhand, sounds pretty good to me.

I'd be really interested to know what these guns can do when you take the shooter out of the picture . . . say, clamped in a vice. I'm convinced that the guns aren't the problem, the shooter typically is.

Yes, off hand.

I've shot at a pizza box at 50 yards, and most shots hit the box, so that is maybe an 18" group.

I would like to know what an experienced, competitive shooter is capable of. I'm happy with my performance so far, but I would like to improve as much as I can.

From the bench I can hit a 12"x12" steel plate at 50 yards every single time. It actually gets boring. Off hand is like 1 outta 3.

I'll tell you this. I am much more accurate with the SC than a KT PF9 at ten yards. Deadly with both on a silhouette but much more with the XD.

At the indoor mini range where I often shoot, I am nearly as good with the SC as with my M but am limited to 32 ft. distance. Imho, the XDSC 9 is a superior short barrelled weapon compared to other weapons of like bbl length and caliber. I think it is because the SC is really just a chopped XDService and maintains the good, stable platform width and grip circumferance.

the ability to produce accuracy is reduced on the SC of course because of the reduced sight radius, smaller grip surface. The gun itself isnt innaccurate, its harder for the shooter to produce accuracy vs a full size.
