XD-M 3.8 Anyone have yet?
So, I was farting around and checking out guns online.
I decided to look at Springfield's website- which I haven't done in a long while and I see the 'now available' XM(M) 3.8!
Springfield Armory - Introducing the XD(m) Polymer Handgun
So, I come here to read threads about it. I see none.
Did they just release this today?
Anyway, it's looking like it will be my CCW gun!

Theres been plenty of talk about it here...even pics...doesn't seem to be lighting the forum up though...from what I've been observing, most people like it but see it as unneccesary and feel it should have been shortened in the grip area...again, not my personal opinion, just what I've observed...I like regular XD's better anyway....

Mine arrives tomorrow. I have been shooting the standard 4.5" 9mm and .40 cal. When I saw the 3.8" I was interested for the potential for improved balance... not so much the conceal issue. Plus, I kinda like the way it looks... matter of opinion I guess. I will put some rounds through it and report back.

I received my 3.8 xdm just before xmas. This is my third xd and I think that it is my best one of the three. My other two are a 9mm sc and a .40 compact. I think that the reason that you are not seeing alot of posting about the new xdm is that not all of the dealers have them for sale yet. The distribution began in the east and is working its way across the country. I am very impressed with it and I advise anyone that gets the chance to handle or shoot one to take the opportunity.

XDM 9mm
Hi I just got my XDM 9mm monday the fourth and just got a chance to go shoot it yesterday. I took my Colt 1911 along with my XDM to the shooting range and was pleasatly seprized at the accuracy of the gun, once I got a few rounds through the 9mm I was Putting shots in a one inch square at twenty five feet. I don't think I can do that as easy with my Colt. When I say a few rounds I mean hundred and fifty or so.The trigger is pretty smooth is light not to heavy like I thought it was going to be. The over all feel of the gun is nice, feels different than the 1911 of cource but very comfortible, Like the 19+1 capacity I bought the all black. All in all I would give the gun a four and half out of five only becauce it is my first pylermer gun and I wounder about the how long it is going to last.

Put a box through it tonight... wow! very accurate at 10 yards. will probably opt for a trigger job to lighten it up a bit. but a great package

A shorter barrel/slide will not really aid in CCW. If you can't conceal a regular duty size XDM, then the 3.8 won't be much better.
A shorter grip is generally what aids in concealment (unless you're talking Thunderwear here)
I would VERY MUCH like to see the 3.8 with a shorter grip and a little less capacity (15rds, size of a G19), then I'd buy one for sure
