WARNING - XD Paddle Holster Scratches
Perhaps some of you already know this, but be very careful with the SA Paddle Holster. I received one today, and after holstering my new XD 45c just THREE times, I got copper colored scratches around the muzzle end of the slide (at the top of the slide on the bevel, and right before the front cocking serrations).
I'm kinda dissapointed, since the gun is only two weeks old. Tried rubbing them out to no avail.
Hard to believe that plastic can scratch/damage the finish, but it did.
To SA's credit, I called them and they told me they would re-finish the slide if I wanted. Not sure if I should do that or live with the scratches. After rubbing oil and trying to buff them out, they're barely visible.....but I can see them.
To those of you that are thinking it......I know, I know.....it's just a tool, scratches add character, yada, yada, yada. But it's only two weeks old.

I thought my holster was scratching up the muzzle end of my slide. Then I found out it was the little snap on the pocket of my jeans. They were copper colored too...

Interestingly, I tried the holster that ships with the gun....no problem. Maybe its just the paddle holster.
The SA customer service rep did tell me they'll show holster wear after some time of using the plastic holsters.

If it's copper from the rivits just use a stiff nylon brush and hoppes to take it out. It's not scratched it's just copper that has rubbed off onto the slide.

Norseman,
I thought you were onto something for a second....maybe you still are, dunno.
I coated the muzzle end with CLP and tried the paddle holster again. I really couldn't see any spots where it was scratching.
So I started thinking your theory regarding the copper snaps on the jeans was dead on. However, I'm a lefty, and the scratches are on the left-hand side of the gun (the side with the take down lever). When holstering, only the right side of the gun could rub on the copper rivets.
Anyway, much ado about nothing. Guess I just have OCD about my guns.

I just received a left hand paddle from SA a few days ago. After reading this thread, I holstered and un-holstered my XD 50 times.
No marks what-so-ever.
