Maybe they got lost on the trip to the station.

Seriously, your brother might want to speak with the investigator about that; in a non-accusatory tone of course. It does seem odd, as R/T so succintly put it , the bad guy was shooting the gun and now there aren't any mags. They might still be in the evidence room and just overlooked during the release of the gun.

He shouldn't feel afraid to ask about them as it was probably an honest oversight.

No. The Department did not return them. I guess they couldnt find them. He was happy to get the Pistol back and is happy he has anything to show for his hard earned money. It sucks that they did not give him any of the magazines with it but that has already been remedied.

He told me it was hidden when stolen. So I dont know where it was at. Apparently the THEIF had no trouble finding it. The gun was recovered in a city 3 hours from where he lives. My brother works on the Oil Rigs Roughnecking and works 7 days on and 7 days off. A lot of the ranches that he works on dont allow firearms of any kind on them. So the THIEF had quite possibly 7 days to locate the pistol or anything else of value. He said he had nothing left so I would assume that the THEIF took everything. When the Police Department returned the weapon he said they did so minus the magazines. He explained to me that they had brought out the wrong weapon at first. He told me they tried to give him a Ruger. He explained to them that it wasnt his pistol. After a few choice words from the Police Chief they located his pistol. He was pretty excited to have his XD back so he came straight here and I got him some Magazines for it. Anyway he has it back and now we need to get it refinshed. What should he do? A-Kote? Dura-Kote? I am getting a HS-2000 Dura-Koted but with the XD he has the factory option.
