Double tap/firing?

Today at the range I swapped from the 40 service to the 40 sub compact and when I got to the second round it double tapped/fired. Okay, I must not have been paying attention, finished the clip and the other 2 reloaded and the same clip the same thing happed again. Am I just crazy or it this a issue that anybody has had before?

you couldve possibly just have manipulated the trigger just right without realizing it... Not sure if its mechanically possibly for the xd to go "auto" unless you've had extensive trigger work...

Thats just it, the 40 SC is "new" less than 200 rounds and no mods. I was working on the "no squinting" this afternoon, mostly with my service and was gonna break the SC in a little better and this happened. I will be calling SA in the AM and see if this is something to send it in for.

The 40SC "bucks" a little, esp with +P rounds. Maybe a bump fire?

Most certainly you are creating a bump fire, which would point to a poor grip on the gun. If you allow the gun to sit loosely in your hands, your going to end up tapping the trigger again when it comes back into place after recoil.

Too tight a grip can result in poor accuracy, so dont squeeze til your hands turn blue.
Look up 'combat grip' in google, and use that technique, just remember a tight but relaxed grip is key.

It's just too unlikely your gun has a defective sear, and as mention, I'm not sure the XD could pull off a full auto due to way it strikes the primer.

The gun is incapable of firing a second time until the trigger resets, this was bump firing.

OP if gripping your gun with both hands try keeping your trigger hand fairly relaxed (within reason) and grip that hand (and the gun) with your other hand. Be mindful of your trigger finger placement too, use the pad of your finger against the trigger to squeeze off your shots. I favor the thumbs crossed hold just to keep clear of the slide release.

There is no "+P" for the .40 S&W caliber...

I don't own a .40 SW but the fact they don't make a +P makes me a lil' saaaaddd.

Every caliber should have a +P... if only to lay claim! HAHAHA
