I have an XD (not the "M") 9mm and overall I am very pleased with it. Here's the question:

I have come to the conclusion that the grip is just a little bigger than I would like. Is it possible to retrofit a smaller grip? I know you can on the XD-M, but how about the standard XD?

If you mean total circumference, not really. The grip is also the mag well so you really cant shave it and keep the same magazine size.

You might look at some of the grip sleeves, I know that they enlarge the grip but it might reposition your hand for the better.

PRP an XD-talk sponsor does grip reductions. Go to XD talk sponsors and click on Powder River Precision. On the "work Order Form" is a section for grip reduction.

And that would be grip reduction as in 'Length" not circumference.

It is actually reducing the circumference. I reduce the girth of the grip and re texture it by stippling.

I like my XD-9 very much, but I shoot my XD-45 better. I decided it was the difference in grip sizes, i.e., the XD-45 just fits my hand better.

I've put a Hogue grip on the XD-9 to try to address that, but with cutting out the slot for the grip safety and so on, it's kind of sloppy.

Is there any way to do that stippling and go *larger* on the grip, Dan? Or something? I don't know how you'd make it larger, but I sure like the way that looks. I also tend to have a little slippage w/ the grip, and that stippling looks like just the ticket.
