Which re-finish most like "stock" Bi-Tone

Fellows,

Am thinking about making my little 9sc "all black" into a bi-tone (stainless-like finish on just the slide).

Which aftermarket finish is most like the stock Springfield bi-tone: cerahide, cerakote, durakote, hard chrome, bead blast .... ?

And, who's the favored re-finisher?

Thanks!

Hard chrome.

Tripp Research but they no longer do this so can't help you there.

The hard chrome is pretty good stuff with a prety good price tag. While I haven't used a Chrome type Cerakote finish, I have used other colors from them and with out a doubt, very tough stuff!

So you can send your slide to SA and they will bitone it?

Is it $215 like posted on the site? How long is the turn around? Also how good of a job did they do on it? Any pix would be nice...

Yes, it costs $215. I'm not sure what they would charge to do the slide only. They don't do it in house so it took 3-4 weeks to get it back to me. It looks very nice and I could not find a single flaw. (still can't)

Thanks for the replies!

Any special benefit of going through Springfield for refinishing, such as making sure your sights get back on correctly?

Googling "hard chrome" matte refinishing shows a few vendors. These guys look promising:

Metaloy, Industries - Professional Gun Finishing - hard chrome, blue and polymer finish

You might look into Metaloy, Industries - Professional Gun Finishing - hard chrome, blue and polymer finish
if you want Hard Chrome..

I was going to have him Hard chrome a Sig barrel for me.
But I decided I wanted to keep it black and sent it to Sig for a Nitron treatment.
Hard Chrome is hard to beat.
Tripps did my XD9sc, slide, controls and internals, but I've since sold it..

All my refinishing needs now go to CCR.. CCR Firearm Refinishing
He has a Nickel based CeraPlate that is awesome.
Brad at CCR has done 2 complete pistols for me, and I'm more than happy with them.
He does have a 4 to 6 week turnaround, but contact him because he now takes reservations.
You don't send him the pistol or parts until he is ready to do the work.
From his web site:
CERA-PLATE
Cera-Plate is a true composite plating process. It is an Electroless Nickel composite process that incorporates Boron Nitride particles within the matrix of the phosphate bath. Its benefits include an exceptionally low coefficient of friction, excellent wear resistance. It is ideal for guns parts that require the lubricity of Nickel /Teflon but need more wear resistance.
Cera-Plate has a Rockwell hardness that rivals that of hard chrome but offers lubrication and more rust and corrosion resistance.
Cera-Plate is far from your standard nickel plating is true composite plating process that is made possible with the breakthrough in modern Nano technology. It is an Eco friendly process.
Cera-Plate not only looks great but performs great as well. It is a smooth finish not slippery like the Nickel/Teflon is.

This P239 SAS is done in Cerahide House Black with Ceraplate controls and barrel.

Good luck and let us know what you decide on..........
