Chop up some old well used flannel bed sheets for no lint or wash some dollar store flannel sheets a couple times for low lint.

I cut up old t-shirts and use those to clean the gun. They work great.

I go with old cotton undershirts or flannel shirts that are worn out.

Old t-shirts here for bigger parts, for the barrel I use the bags of patches from Wal-Mart or Bass Pro.

I just use a boresnake on my pistols and not worry about patches.

There's usually a vendor that sets up a table at the gun show full of cleaning supplies, AP brushes, punches, all size tweezers, small scraping dental tool looking things, and for a couple of dollars you can get years worth of patches.

Go to a fabric store and pick up a yard of white flannel or cotton. Throw it in the wash to remove the lint and you will have enough to make patches for a year.
This way you can customize to the size you need.

it may be cheaper to cut up a yard of fabric, but I don't want to spend the time to cut patches every time i clean a gun. For me I will fork out $10 for 500 patches and be good for the year.
