brass....i've heard the nylon is for the magazine...and also heard of someone getting their nylon brush stuck in the barrel. )I'm referring to the supplied nylon brush.)

Either is fine. The nylon brush is easier on the barrel than the bronze. Always start any brush from the chamber end, run it completely through and bring in back being careful not to rub the cleaning rod against the barrel. A good bore swab is great to have. I prefer to use Hoppes #9, let it sit as long as I can, run wet patches through until they come out clean.

Bore snakes do have their place. I think they are great for field cleaning, especially if washed and keps clean.

Jags tend to be much tighter and need a little more muscle. I think the slotted tips would be good for applying solvent to the barrel, while the jag would be better for removing it.

If I could only have one, I would keep the jag. Of course it would be cheating to push a wet patch through the barrel with a just a brass brush.

Brass brush does a better job on lead, the jag cleans better than the slotted tip.
