Things learned...
So I took a 2-day Point Shooting Progressions class this weekend with Roger Phillips.
I learned a ton, but that is for another post... I learned 2 very specific things related to my XD:
1. Grip tape only works for marksmanship type shooting for me. When I got to the point where I was pulling from a holster in a real hurry, it shredded my hand. Inside of 10 minutes I had one raw finger (others heading that way) and a blister in my palm... skin lost, so yeah... and with 1176 rounds left to fire, this was not good. Peeled it off and had no further wear on the skin.
2. The XD rocks! I started out with a lightly oiled XD40 Service Bi-tone. The class was outdoors in Nevada with all the dusty wind one would expect. 16 hours in that environment with 1200 rounds fired and zero malfunctions. I thought I would clean it the first night, but then I thought, "nah, just let it ride, let's see what happens". Nothing. Just bang, over and over and over.
This makes my constant debate over "Get another 1911 or another XD" rage on. I am convinced my head will split open if this keeps on much longer.
Anyway, big thumbs up for my XD's continued reliability.
