Visit to the gun store...

Well I went to a store yesterday and had my first XD vs. CZ comparison. They were out of a lot of stuff, so all they had was an XD 45 tactical, and XD 45 compact. The full size grip had a lot of room at the bottom when I gripped it. I have previously shot an XD 9mm, and it shot well but I just don't like the way that length at the bottom feels. Then I picked up the CZ 75B, and it felt great. It's not the CZ I'm interested in buying (I like the SP 01) but it was a great feeling gun. It was only slightly heavier feeling than the XD (I know it's a .45 caliber so it's bigger than the .40 I want) but the grip was great. It felt a little thicker than the XD grip, and for lack of a better word, "rounder".

Then I held the XD .45 Compact, and the grip size is perfect. I wish they had had an XD 9mm or 40 compact, but it felt great. I will hopefully get the chance to shoot a CZ to compare it to an XD compact, that will be the true test.

It was just nice to hold them to compare the feel, even though I'm a few steps away from buying. The real comparison will be shooting the CZ against an XD.

It was a fun day.

Unfortunately, I cannot offer any real insight, as I have not shot a CZ as of yet either, but I have been looking at the CZ P07 Duty... But what I always come back to is... I have shot the XD, and I likey the XD, so why change the XD? (Really I want them all)

I see you have the XD 40 4", that's the gun I'm most interested in, but I will be wanting to get the 9mm drop in barrel almost immediately (cheaper ammo for the range mostly). Do you ever think you should have gotten a 9mm? What caliber is the CZ P07?

I don't want the 9mm, or drop in 9mm barrel. I did spend $60 on .40 reloading dies

I'm starting to wish they made an XD10 with a 5" barrel.

I like the 40, I don't get to shoot it often, so the muzzle flip is the only thing that I could do without. I think a 9 will be next for cheaper range visits. The CZ P07 Duty is currently a 9mm.

CZ's are great pistols. I used a 75B 9mm when I shot IPSC. I haven't shot the newer models like the SP01.

Personally, I like the trigger better than most of the guns I own. It certainly has a better trigger than my XDM. I will need to work on the XDM's trigger to shorten the creep.
