im keeping all of cases just in case any of the XDs i have are ever stolen i can take the paperwork from purchase and the empty case to the police and clean my hands of the gun.
if a shooting happens and they have the case then they know it came from that gun, and as i reported it stolen it no longer falls on me.
just my 2 cents.

All you need to do is file a police report, the case will mean nothing. The case would be useless in a investigation as it was not in a controlled environment.

Mine didn't come with the package or casing. I have to call them tomorrow and find out where it's at.

Guess again. North Dakota does not have a gun registry. I asked about it when I bought my XDm and was told by the store that there is nothing to tie me to the gun. When I paid for it all I got was a cash register receipt, and they did not record the serial number, and they did not record my name, other than the initial back ground check . I was assured at the time of the background check that there would be no connection to the check and an actual gun purchase. My guess is the serial number was recorded somewhere as being sent to that store, but nothing ties me to it.
