gun scrubber cleaning questions...

I just bought the synthetic safe cleaner gun scrubber from birchwood casey, when I sprayed it on the slide interiors, it dries up quickly, by the time that I would scrub it w/ a nylon brush, the metal is dried up. I have no problem w/it on the frame. Am I doing it right? thanks!

Use something like Breakfree CLP and a toothbrush to lossen and desolve the crud, then use the gun scrubber to blow it clean. Or use gun scrubber to clean crud out of places you can't reach with a toothbrush. Keep in mind that gun scrubber leaves things dry. It evaporates very rapidly so there is no way it stays around for you to do some brushing. When done, I use an old style shaving brush or an inexpensive, small solvent brush from the auto parts store to apply Breakfree and put a light coat of protection on the slide, etc.

Use the hoopes #9 solvent to dissolve and dilute all those tough deposits and bore + breech. Use the spray clp for exterior surfaces to protect from rust. Use CLP liquid to lube and clean everything else, including re-cleaning/lubing all action, bore & breech and metal on metal parts.
If ya can't get CLP, use a decent gun oil or Mobil 1, 10/40 synthetic lube; or Castrol SynTech 10/40 Synthetic motor oil. (Good Stuff and designed to preform well in high heat.)

Can you buy acetone, paint thinner and automatic transmission fluid? If so you can make Ed's Red. I find I can make a gallon of the stuff for the cost of about 4oz of Hoppes or other "store bought" cleaners. Works well on all my guns, including my XD. The only thing I try to keep it off of is wood stocks. With Ed's Red I can usually clean an autoloader start to finish with 10-12 patches. If it's a gun I shoot jacketed bullets in (mainly rifles) I also use a copper solvent in the bore.

Homemade Firearm Related Products

My Ed's Red recipe is (by volume) 25% ATF, 50% Mineral Spirits, and 25% Acetone.

So, is it a good idea to scrub the powder/dirts w/ hoppes 9, wipe dry and spray w/ gun scrubber, then wipe dry again? then just use the un scrubber on hard to reach areas like trigger mechanism etc.

No! use a good lubricant such as gun oil, CLP liquid, or a good lubricant that retains viscosity under high temps on all metal on metal parts!
My $.02 worth.
Lubing is as important as cleaning.
Do this after cleaning with Hoppes #9 on bore andd chamber.
