Bought 2 XD's, have ???'s
Greetings,
A couple of weeks ago, I finally received my pistol permits (I live in NJ and you must have a Purchaser's Permit for every pistol you purchase). I went to the Bullet Hole in Belleville, NJ and purchased an XD45 Tactical and an Armalite AR10 20" flattop. That was Friday. Saturday, went to Meltzer's in Garfield, NJ, and bought an XD9 Tactical w/ night sights and some 2" Shoot N See targets.
Later that Saturday, I went to the range w/ both pistols. When at the range, I'll take a "Q" target and put 5-6 dot markers on the target, in this instance the Shoot N C. Towards the end of the 150 rounds through the XD45, I put 15 rounds through 2.5" at 15 yards. Blew the entire Shoot N C target of the Q target. Extremely happy with the XD45 Tact. The Friday it was purchased, I spent a lot of time dry firing the trigger and it smoothed out some. The 9mm wasn't as easy to shoot to the same accuracy level. I put 200 rounds through it, and my best groups were averaging 3" or so. I don't blame the gun. I have to get used to it, and the trigger was fresh out of the box. It will get there. After playing with the gun a lot (dry firing), the trigger is now as smooth as the 45. The grip reminds me A LOT of a Browning High Power. I want to look into taking the weight out of the trigger some and doing a 1st class polish job. These guns are going to be real shooters. I should have waited for the XD45 w/ the manual safety. For me, that would be the perfect pistol. Keep in mind that I have some very nice pistols to compare to, Sig P226, HKUSP45F, 2nd gen G17 & G19, Beretta 92FS, SA 1911 Loaded, and so on. The XD's are 1st rate pistols.
My question comes from a thread I posted here some weeks ago, when I was researching the XD. Someone had mentioned that 15 round mags were available for the XD9 (NJ has a 15 round mag limit). This was one of my motivations for purchasing this pistol. I called SA and they said they don't make 15 rounders. Does anyone know where to get 15 round XD9 mags?

I will start by saying none my XD's are 9mm I am saying this from memory, so do not hold me to it.
ProMag I think makes a 15rd mag for the 9mm and if I am not mistaken older springfield 9mm mags were 15rd.
Here is a link to a gunbroker auction that has 9mm 15rd springfield mags, or so the base plate says. Hope this helps.

I've read that the older 9mm mags were 15-round; Springfield later changed the mag design to hold 16 rounds, which is why you can no longer buy new 15-round mags.
Used 15-rounders, like the one in the Gunbroker link above, are obviously available.

Yup, I probly have 3 or 4 from my first XD-9Service. They just made a different follower and added another peep-hole.

Update -
I called SA again today and spoke to a more knowledgeable person in Customer Service. They do have 15 rounders and I ordered 4. It's a shame that I count use the 2 free mag coupon I just sent in, as the mags are specific to the serial #.

Welcome from NJ!
You almost just gave me a small stroke .. I knew they were available.
How come you can't use the free mag certificate? Didn't you gun come with 10 rounders?

Sell the 10's and buy more 15's.
