Arrow Should I fill out Warranty Card?

I just bought a new xd 45. I am wondering if I should send in the warranty card or not. Maybe I am just being paranoid since there is a record of me buying it at the store; but, if there ever were to come a day when the government tries to take away our handguns I just think that the less records the better. What does everyone else think? Did you send your in and if not does it effect the warranty?

You can if you want to, but Springfield has a lifetime warranty no matter who the original purchaser was, so there is really no need to. But that's just me.

The first line of the warranty from SA states that it applies to the initial retail purchaser. I plan to send in my warranty card and the "Gear Up Program Redemption Form" must include dealer and customer information if you want your two free mags and pouch (purchased 10/15/08-01/15/09).
I sent mine in as have many others I'm sure.

Records can be subpoenaed from firearms dealers if it got to that point.

Don't let "what could happen" take away the joy of owning your new XD.

Look at it this way. If there is a recall on the gun, or some other problem that they need to notify owners about, if your not registered, you will never know!

I've never sent in a warranty card for any gun I own. Don't plan on starting, either.

Sorry or the hijack...

...I bought an XD-40 SC from a fellow second-hand and Face-to-Face. It looks like he never filled in the warranty card. I guess there's no real sense in myself trying to fill it out and send it in, is there? I mean, there's no way I could prove I was the original owner. I guess I just answered my own question.

I've never sent any in. Thats why I have XD's and Glocks, so I hopefully never actually need a warranty.

On the rare occasion they actually need service, I'll send the warranty card in with the pistol or other proof of purchase if they require it. As for recalls, I'd know ahead of time as most problems are documented online before most manufacturers step up to the plate.

Same reason I didnt send in the warranty card for my safe. They dont need to know where I live or what I have. (P.O. box is quite useful if you like sending in those things)

So let me get this right. If I bought a used XD, even if it was only owned for a couple of months, the lifetime warranty is no good?
