Remember that the written warranty is just what the company is obligated to follow. They can choose to service any gun they wish, regardless of age or condition if they want - and free of charge, too.

I think Springfield's written warranty is only a year and non-transferable...or something like that. I don't really care since I know if there's a defect it'll get fixed. If I do something stupid with it I don't really expect them to pay for it anyways.

I sent mine in as have many others I'm sure.

Records can be subpoenaed from firearms dealers if it got to that point.

Don't let "what could happen" take away the joy of owning your new XD.

Here is a reply that I got back from SA when I asked about their warranty...

Hello,

Springfield Armory carries one of the best warranties in the business. Even if you weren’t the original owner, we would still honor the lifetime warranty, barring that no outside workmanship had been done to the firearm. If you do need work in the future, just call us at 800-680-6866 for an RMA number, and shipping instructions, and we will get the firearm squared away.

Thanks again Sir, and feel free to email or phone any time.

Springfield Inc.
Customer Service Representive
1-800-680-6866
Ext. 8946

So, again, no I do not send in my warranty cards.

As always, Stay Safe.

No. It's lifetime to the original retail purchaser. (on XD's, dunno about their other products, probably the same).
That's the printed version.
Obviously, their history so far has been to fix regardless of ownership status.

I filled one out for my Beretta. they don't have a life time warranty, the guns out of the dealer has a 1-year warranty. If you fill out the registration, it becomes a 1+2=3 years total warranty.
I suppose that was worth it.

Went ahead and filled it out and sent it in with my free magazine request. Now I hope I get my magazine before any kind of restrictive legislation.

What does everyone else think? Did you send your in and if not does it effect the warranty?
If you do not fill it out, you will not be in the system. You can still get waranty work, but it's more of a pin in the ***.

Ever seen the movie "Red Dawn?" What was the first thing the foreign troops did when they invaded the USA? They gathered all the records of firearms ownership! So, NO, you shouldn't do it for fear of an invasion of the USA!!!

But serious, I filled out mine.

My first XD9 was used, and it had minor oxidation issues on the slide from being carried IWB during the summer time. It didn't help that I wore wicking undergarments that pulled moisture to the surface, so they Armory Koted the slide, release, trigger, and both safeties for free. They were completely professional about it and were a real pleasure to deal with too.
