I didn't watch the video, but with cleaning it is: "Different strokes for different folks."

If it works for you then good, but there isn't necessarily one right way to get it done.

I wouldnt go betting money on that....

The biggest problem I see is your order of operation. You shouldnt put the gun together THEN clean the barrel. You just pushed all that crud down back INTO the gun. You want to keep dirt away from the feed not put more dirt onto it.

I agree with "Different strokes for different folks.", and Im in no way saying he's 100% wrong. But some "strokes" just arent correct. Jambing patches and brushes in and out from the muzzle end with the pistol fully assembled just isnt the way to go about it.

Everyone's got their own method, and while they can all be different, they should all stem from good practices, and change from there to suit the owner.

J.

P.S.... Not bashing, just respectfully not agreeing with your particular way of cleaning your XD

Yeah that method is a little backwards if you ask me...

I went shooting once and when we were done we all cleaned our guns and it was so funny because 5 guys cleaning 5 different ways. Whatever is good for you I guess. I take mine apart. Clean everything, wipe it down, oil it, put it back together and wipe the frame. Takes 5 min. Works for me and I am happy with it.

Thanks for the video. Good job.

i don't like it...the problems i saw have been highlighted by others. you can make all the excuses you want regarding content, but leaving the video up as is is unconscionable...or you could leave it up and change the title to "how to improperly clean a firearm." $.02

I would just think that if you were to make one of these videos you should make it as if you just came from the range regardless if how often you clean it before the video becouse if I look for a video to do such this is not what I want to see. And I have always been told that you do not want to use a "hard" grease on it like you did on the slide rails becouse it traps the gunk.

Tetra grease isnt a "hard" grease. It works perfect and i even let a buddy use it and he was surprised by how much smoother the action of the slide was.

If you watch the video in reverse that is how i normally do it. I was pressured for time.
Ill be remaking it when I have the time.

Different strokes is right. Definitely not how I'd clean a weapon. Grease on the slide, no way.

But kudos for the effort.

I use white lithium grease on my rails and barrel, been using it for years with no ill effect. I live in the middle of the Sonora desert where fine sandy soil flying around is norm.

1. I field strip my gun
2. Swab the barrel with a patch and solvent
3. Go over the frame and slide and parts (outer barrel) with a toothbush and solvent
4. Wipe the frame and slide off and then lubricate both them.
5. Run a bronze bore brush a couple of times down the barrel, repeat the patch/sovent wait a few minutes and repeat the brush.
6. Run a clean patch a couple of times down the barrel
7. Run a lubed patch down the barrel then lube the outer barrel.
8. Then reassemble and lube the outer slide.

Sounds like a winner to me...that's normally how I clean mine out...
