?? He says "be safe" yet he has three fingers in front of a loaded handgun.

The only time honestly you should rack the slide maunualy, is to clear a malfunction. Lock the slide to the rear, insert mag. Then release the slide. If you go to fire your gun, and nothing happens. First slap the bottom of the mag to make sure it's seated properly. Then rack the slide to chamber a round. If you can not rack the slide by hand, you should not carry. As a malfunction could happen at any time. Also if you have a stove pipe you will need to bring the slide back and sweep the casing with your offside hand.

I would have to disagree with you here. It is a slide stop, not a slide release.

He simply said "release the slide". He didn't say anything about the method used. There are at least 3 different ways to do it (hit the lock, slingshot & slow release), but all 3 result in the same thing.

I would have to re-mention that the makers of the XD instruct you to use that non-existent slide release to load the first round.

Release the slide indicates the use of the slide stop as a release.

You don't trust the engineers who actually designed the weapon you purchased to give you valid information?

In this case no. Incidentally, no one at Springfield designed anything. They also say not to carry their 1911s cocked and locked and not to carry any of their weapons with a round in the chamber.

alright I admit I actually tried manually opening the breach by hand wihout there being a magazine in the gun and manually I tried to put a round in the chamber. Didn't quite work out which is why I am glad someone posted the video. Made ALOT more sense to me. Sometimes I swear I can act blond.
