I agree with everything....but dropping the slide with the slid elock just makes me cringe. I know...it was made for holding the slide but I am a manual release kind of guy.

Why's that? Think of the force that the weapon endures during firing, im sure its alot more than releasing it with the slide release...

No need to be gentle on it

Dropping the slide is not a big deal when the take down lever is in the down position. Doing it with the take down lever in the up position puts all the force on the striker and sear.

The manual even gives two different procedures for slide release: one for when there is a round waiting in the mag (use slide release to slam it home) and one when there is no mag present (release slide slowly with your hand).
