xd9 magazine movement?

i recently bought an xd9 and have put a few hundred rounds through it already

just today, i noticed the magazine did not fit correctly.
i tried the second magazine, same fitment.
how much 'play' should the magazine have?

what im mean is, once the magazine is inserted, you can move the bottom of the magazine a fraction. its not a huge amount, but its noticable

im thinking the fitment was more snug when purchased
or perhaps im dellusional

What you're describing sounds normal to me. The tolerances throughout the XD are a little on the loose side. The general consensus is this is because it's a combat style handgun, and the loose tolerances allow the gun to still function when used in adverse conditions where debris might get into the gun.

Despite the loose tolerances you'll find the gun to be plenty accurate and reliable. Have fun with it.

I also have very little movement with my clip (ooops... MAG) on my XD-9

Even my .40cal XD that I bought brand new... prob. only 300 rounds shot through it... has very little movement.

Its normal. Nothing to be worried about!
