tactical to 4in

My friend just proposed a question that I had no idea how to answer...

Would a 4 in slide/barrel fit and function on a tactical frame? I wouldnt think so, but he says otherwise, due to the frame already being shorter than the slide/barrel...Anyone have any ideas or hard evidence on this?

Only one way to check LOL.

IIRC the frame is the same but the slide and barrel and recoil spring are longer.

Actually I have heard people buying a 45Tac and Compact switching out frames and slides and having 4 guns for the price of two. Although I don't think SA recommends it!!!

Well then that settles it...If it is the slightest possibility, then I will just have to go to the local gun shop and see what happens...Who can beat a 2 for 1?
