Xd 40 4" Vs. 45 4"
Hey guys I have an XD 40 4" service, and am wondering if the 4" service model in 45ACP is equal to the 40S&W as far as the grips go. Is the 45ACP wider or longer than the other? I'm talking about the handles, not the barrel or slide.

Yes, the .45 grip is slightly longer and thicker. It's still very comfortable though, and incredibly small considering there's 13 rounds of .45ACP crammed in there.

That really depends on the person and wardrobe. I know personally I couldn't conceal any XD very well, but many people can. But if you could hide the 40, you could hide the 45. For concealability, I'd definitely check out the XD-45 Tactical Compact with the chopped grip.

Don't know too many people who carry 4" or 5" XD's concealed. I use my 4" XD45, XD40, and XD9 for range guns. My carry guns are either 4" Kimber Tactical Pro, or Glock26.

I have and XD40 4" that I carry every day. I wanted a 45 as well so I purchased the XD45 compact. After carrying it for a few days I realized that something was different. It's weird but to me my back fat could tell the difference between the guns and while the 40 carried well, the 45 was not comfortable at all. So much so that I sold it to get another 1911 as I do not like having safe guns that don't go in the carry rotation.
