Gun locks

What is your gun lock of choice for the home protection device of yours that gives secure protection but can be disabled quickly in a time of need?
I am looking for something that is secure but want something that is easily disabled if the time arises that I have to put it to use.

I keep my pistol locked in a digital keyless access made by Bunker Hill.
It keeps the kids out (i have a 8 & 13 yr old in my household) yet lets me get to my pistol in just 2-3 seconds. My long guns are locked in a stack-on right below the pistol safe but the .40 will give me time to fumble for my keys

A "gun lock" that I'm thinking of is something that attaches to the gun and either disables the trigger mechanism, or is attached so the gun can't chamber a cartridge...I would never put a gun lock on a gun that was intended for home defense.

A small safe that uses a simple combination or biometrics is more in line for a device that safely stores a gun until it is quickly needed.

Does the keypad light up? I would hate to be fumbling around for a flashlight or turn the bedroom light on and aleart an intruder that I know they are present.

A good point I am just trying to see what my options are for safety and ease of use in time of need. Buy the way what do you use?

I like the large spring-loaded top opening. It is very natural to reach down and feel the keys in the dark. No reason to program a super-complex combo. Note that it is "chained" around my bed frame and I can slide it out of sight if I want.

You can keep the key off-site. If the battery dies you hold a 9 volt to two contacts on the side to power it while you enter the code. It has a lockout feature if you try to enter the wrong code too many times.

It would also work very well in a large drawer or the trunk of a car.

I use a GunVault.

GunVault - Gun Safes for Home or Office - Home

I bought it 12 years ago.
Mounted under my desk.
Open it by touch in a fraction of a second..
Other guns are in a bigger safe.

+1. I've got a V-Line Topdraw. Decided against the electronic ones because of the potential for battery failure.
