Which primer?

Ok....trying to figure the reloading out..just started so give me some slack.

Went to the local Gander Mountain yesterday....looked at small pistol primers. They had remington 1 1/2 and 5 1/2 if I remember correctly. Also Federal brands.

Just wanting to do some 9mm Luger in WWB brass. Nothing fancy, regular load charge, possibly lead or jacketed bullet.

HELP!!!

I don't have any experience with Remington or Federal primers, so unfortunately I can't help you there. I use CCI 500s and Winchester WSP for 9mm. They both are great.

What were the prices at Gander? Do you have any local gun shops that carry reloading components?

Gander was around $3.47 a 100.

I have a couple of places that dabble in it and one that is pretty dedicated. I am going to go and talk with them. Like I said...I didn't notice a specific one quoted for any specific load...all I have basically heard is that don't use magnum for regular loads unless the load calls for a magnum.

Just trying to get pointed in the right direction.

Standard small pistol primers is what you want. Not familiar with remington so I can't say which.

A Remington 1 1/2 is a small pistol primer which is what you want. A 2 1/2 is a large pistol primer and a 5 1/2 is a small pistol magnum primer.

Don't load 9mm but I've had good luck with Federal, Winchester, Remington and CCI primers in my 44sp, 45acp and 45 Colt.

I'd go with CCI or Win. I think Rem & Fed use a bit softer metal with requisite "potential" for an AD should anything happen with a firing pin or striker "bumping" the primer. Try a box of CCI small pistol and see how they go. I've used boxes of them in 45 with no problems. Go to the reload forum and see what they think on 9mm.
