Yes it is. I have had two 40 sub compacts, recoil assembly ( guide rod ) started to unscrew. Call SA and tell them about it.

ummm the correct answer is there is NO "common" failure on any of the XDs. Have had zero issues with my half dozen XDs including two 9mm SCs. If you have a prob, SA will fix you up.

Very uncommon on XD9SCs. There have been some problems with the 40s as Tx1911 said, but I think those are all straightened out.
