Written out this sounds totally fishy, but I have bought several firearms from her and her husband and always gotten a good deal and a box of shells as thanks. Her husband is sick with chemo/cancer right now so I don't mind paying a little more to throw them a bone but I also don't want to get taken for a ride.

Thanks for everyone's feedback.
The extra fee's that I was talking about was just the $7.50 backround check, plus the 10 bucks for the box of ammo. Like I said the price of the gun before and tax and backround was $429 brand new.

Oh, I misunderstood. Backround checks are free to the best of my knowledge in MO. Maybe they've just added it into the price when I've bought guns in the past.

OMG That's cheap as heck. I'll check it out.

So for an update, I called a few places for local prices. Cabelas was $549 although I think the moron must have been looking at the wrong gun because that's the highest I've ever seen. I called another local shop and they said $459! I called the shop that quoted me the $518 and told her that I was going to pass on the XD. She said that she would get a better price and call me back. I hate to bargain them down, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna flush $59 down the toilet. I guess that's the risk you run when becoming friendly with a shop owner. You feel bad when it comes time to hammer out a price. Heck, I bought a P22 from them and brought them a friend who also bought a P22. Not like I haven't done my part.

My XD-40 Tactical was $523 and the Service model was selling for $489.
By the time I walked out after paying for the backround check (DROS), CA Department of Justice Handgun Safety Certificate and tax, I dropped $624!!!

THIS STATE SUCKS!!!

You don't really have to feel bad - it's just business, and they understand. If it were me and they did come down $60, I wouldn't mind trying to find $60 worth of stuff to buy at their store at the same time. It's not exactly the same, but whatever.

I see used SC's all the time for $385.

I picked up and XD40 service that turned out to be NIB that was a trade in at the same shop for $385. I also purchased the Magazine special of 3 mags for and extra $40. So for around $420 I have a NIB XD and 5 mags. I can not complain.

425 - 450 is a good price. I paid 479 for mine, and they are still 479 at that gunshop. My dealer has a hard time getting them now, but he will custom order them, seems that he can't get them overnight now for some reason like he was.

I'm thinking about getting another in just all black, as I have the OD green. I would just keep the black one and not fire it until I break the OD green one, but I don't think I could ever break it... lol.
