.45 tactical compact w/ thumb safety???

Is Springfield making this at all? I'd like a tactical length barrel with the versatility of the compact/full length magazine capability. And I'm a little intrigued by the thumb safety for times when I'm carrying the gun in unconventional set-ups where it might be nice to have a little something to prevent against an accidental discharge other than carrying on an empty chamber.

I don't see one on the website, but I know sites are often behind the times. Anybody with info?

I'm pretty sure they don't/won't make it. However you could always buy a Tac w/safety and have Springer chop the grip for you just like the compact.

I think it's called a full size 1911 slide on a commander frame.

Actually, my gun dealer told me it's available in .45 on the tactical, although I've never seen one. I remember seeing it on Springfield's page... but now I don't see it.

Yes, they make the Tactical with thumb safety. The OP was asking if they make a Tactical Compact with thumb safety. The answer is no, as Springfield only offers the thumb safety on their full size frame, not the compact frame.

Like I said before, there's always the option of buying the regular Tactical and having the grip chopped, it would be exactly what you are looking for.

I wish Springfield would show a little thumb safety love to the other calibers in the old (non XD(M)) line. For various reasons I prefer .357 Sig and would like to have the thumb safety but it just isn't in the cards for anything other than the .45 at the moment.

I always assumed the .45 got it because they are trying to win the military contract for the new service sidearm.
