I have been watching this board for about 3 months even though i could not afford the gun I still wanted to learn as much about it as I could before I purchased it.
I think that it is a good idea to be as well informed as you can, but my girlfriend just says that I am obsessed.
R/T Performance you are correct in the few months I've spent I have had a few laughs

After all these rather disturbing stories from Hurricane Katrina, I did 2 things. I made a donation to the American Red Cross, then I went out and bought a 9mm carbine. I happen to like the XDs and I have 3 (XD9SC, XD9 Tactical, and XD40). However, a shotgun or a carbine is better home defense. I decided on the Hi Point 9mm Carbine (don't laugh, I did an extensive search on carbines on Deja looking at the Kel Tec Sub 2000, the Beretta Storm, the Mech Tech conversion for the 1911, and the Ruger. Guess what? There are a lot of posts that say, "I know somebody that had a Hi Point...."But the posts that are written by Hi Point Carbine owners are very surprising. Some of these are written by those who own one of the more expensive carbines. The Hi Point Carbines are well regarded as reliable, plus they are so inexpensive, you won't feel guilty if it gathers dust or a bit of rust. Gun Tests (I know some of you hate this publication) compared the Hi Point with the Kel Tec and the Beretta. They liked the Hi Point.

Anyway, I tested my new carbine and I was delighted. I found as quickly I could bring the front post to align on the target and slap the trigger it would hit the bullseye (OK at 50 feet, at an indoor range). At that distance, I can only do that with a handgun very deliberately, with controlled breathing, and sloooowly sqeeezing the trigger. With a carbine, I could just slap the trigger and punch out a 3 inch hole off hand. At rest, the gun repeatedly made a jagged 1 inch hole.

Just a thought...carbine.....
