Question SA-XD 9mm V-10 Ported Barrel Questions

I just got a SA-XD 9mm 4" Service Model and I love it!!! My dad has a SA-XD 40cal. 4" Service Model with the V-10 ported barrel.

I want to get the V-10 ported barrel and slide for my 9mm, but I've searched all over the internet and cant find anywhere to buy it. Does anybody know where I can buy it at?

I know the ported barrel helps with the recoils (which I just want it because of looks), but will it hurt the performance, bullet velocity, ect. of the XD any?

Using the ported barrel will cause you to lose velocity of your chosen projectile. Also, if you intend this to be a defensive handgun I'd avoid it. One shot in the dark would most likely not be a good for your eyes. It may void your warranty with SA, but I'm not 100% on that one.

You can't buy a V-10 slide and barrel separately. Your best bet is to look for a used V-10, and swap out the slide/barrel. Or, get your current gun ported, which will look different, but have a similar effect.

FYI getting a V-10 or using a V-10 slide/barrel does NOT void the warranty. Porting the slide/barrel would void the warranty on the slide/barrel only.

Malf: I never thought about being blinded at night! That is true though... my dads 40cal V-10 shoots flames out the ports in the daytime.

What are you using the gun for? If it's a range queen, and you like it, send it out and have it done to your slide and barrel. If you're going to be carrying it, run like the plague is coming ...

Hang on now, never said that. You can't buy an aftermarket V-10, and you certainly can't buy an aftermarket slide. You CAN have an aftermarket company port your existing barrel and slide (MagnaPort does that), and you can also buy an extended barrel that is ported beyond the slide (FireDragon has some). "V-10" is SA's proprietary porting method with the 5 holes on either side of the barrel. No-one does that in the aftermarket.

Personally I prefer the look of the V-10 to Magnaporting or other non-OEM porting. But, keep your gun as-is, it'd be way too much money to turn it into a V-10 clone. Diversity is a good thing. If you're still set on the V-10, buy one in a few weeks/months and have 2.

If you want to really want to port it, think about comping it instead, it is much more efficient.

You have a good point. That would be alot of money. I think I'll just use that money for a XML light, fix my trigger with a trigger kit, and some fiber optic sights.
