New owner of an XD45

Hi all;

I just bought a new XD 45 4". I would like to ask a question that I hope isn't a stupid one. This is the first new gun as well as my first Springfield.

The issue is the disassembly lever and the slide stop lever are EXTREMELY difficult to press. My thumb is sore from the few times I have tried to press the slide stop lever to unlock the slide. Is this normal for this gun or is it something that needs to be repaired? Is it due to being new and will improve after firing some rounds?

I've only had Glocks before and I had no problem with the slide lock lever on them.

Thanks for your help

Yeah it was somewhat difficult for me when my XD40 was new...the slide release will get better the more rounds you put through it...i used a towel to protect my thumb when i first field stripped the gun...clean it out and oil it up and it will get better with time...
