My wife and I were searching for a good SD pistol and this proved to be one of the few that fit her hands well. I was very surprised that a double stack semi fit as well as it does. We had searched through many models and had narrowed to just a select few. I had already felt the XD was a great option and was pleased when we determined it was the best option and fit for her small hands.

We purchased the gun yesterday and I was able to take it to the range for a very short 100 round session to get myself acquainted. I was very impressed! Zero failures of any kind and very comfortable to shoot. I have read reviews and knew that the gun is very reliable as well as accurate. However, I think it definitely surpassed my expectations. I also own a Walther P99 9mm. My only range time today was at 7 yards and the XD was was basically as accurate as I can perform with the P99 at this distance. The attachment shows the results of my first few mags (20 rounds) and I consider the results to be good, for me at least.

Congrats...How is your walther...I've been thinking about getting one..

Congratulations! Be prepared for your wife to want her own XD 9 subcompact after a few trips to the range.

I absolutely love my P99 9mm. It is an early model, 1998 manufacture date imported by Interarms. It has the AS trigger system (although it was not called that then). Essentially a DA / SA with a hybrid third trigger action that is a long SA. I don't have any experience with the QA or DAO trigger systems on the P99.

Very accurate. Very Ergonomic. With the interchangeable back straps, it fits my hand better than any other semi auto I have handled (I use the smallest back strap). I can't recall any FTE or FTF with it since I have owned after purchasing new.

I certainly recommend the P99. Perhaps the one con is its current price. I think the weak dollar is hurting us in that regard. You might also take a look at the P99 Compact which was a direct competitor to the XD SC for this purchase. XD got the nod though for various reasons this time, primarily as it was a better fit for my wife.

If the pricing is palatable, I doubt you would be disappointed with its performance.

In fact, the XD SC was purchased for her! Now the problem is, I liked it so much that there may be another purchase in the future for a second.
