BTW, I'm a lefty and have zero issues using the "right handed" XD especially since it doesn't have a manual safety and the fact the mag can be released from either side.

I am a lefty and the XD gives me no problems> I will say that have the slide lock on one side normally isn't a problem, but having to depress the grip safety to pull the slide back makes it interesting sometimes.

Probably the result of some anti gun or just just plain uninformed graphic designer or web guru.

The thing that gives him all the fits is the slide release.

The only left handed problem I have with my XD is locking back the slide with no magazine. Since I have gotten used to releasing the slide by slingshot, everything else works fine.

Ditto!
When the guy at the gun store wanted me to go through the paces to show him I knew what I was doing........ I looked like a total jerk trying to lock the slide back and manage the grip safety. Now I got it down and no other problems. Can even take it apart now.
(sucks living in a right handed world but we make due)
