Best place to buy and how?

I have bought 4 handguns at a local, nationally well-know sporting goods store but I read in a post that I was paying way too much. Where is the best place to buy and, if it is via online, how do you take possession of the handgun? They can't just ship it straight to my home can they? Doesn't the handgun have to go thru a dealer somehow? Thanks.

Well I havent done it, but if you use budsgunshop.com, and provide them with your FFL's license and address they'll ship it there, and you can pick it up. They have a bunch on file too, so you may not even need to provide it. However, I think most dealers charge a fee for that(at least they do here in california, maybe they dont in the US ). Also, bud's charges shipping, so you may not end up saving that much money.

Try Gallery of Guns.com - Gun Gallery, Ruger Firearms, Shooter Online Services, Firearm Industry News, Firearm Dealer, Gun News. They ship overnight to an FFL near you and offer a great warranty of any gun that you buy from them.

Bud's Guns is where I bought my XD9SC. Black 06 package with Trijicon NS, $540 shipping included. $6.00 insurance. $434.00 w/o NS, shipping included. Have it shipped to your local FFL holder who does dealer transfers. Midway USA and Brownells have an FFL database by state, as does Bud's. Ask him/her (FFL) first and give them a heads-up. Depending on your locality, additional fees perhaps $35-$75 for their trouble. Bud's shipped and cleared my check super fast, no complaints, gun perfect.

Guns for Sale

These guys move a lot of guns, and their good at it.

Find your local FFL and they should be more than happy to walk you through the details. Bud's is a great place to look, they have great prices and good customer service. I have also dealt with GunBroker.com a few times, specifically with the seller "supohunter" he has some great prices on XDs.

My best pricing was at a local gun show. My XD45c was almost $100. cheaper than the local dealer quotes.

I can't speak for everywhere, but in charleston, sc prices are crazy high. Both my XD's have been gotten from shipping them to a local FFL. I used bachman's for my xd9, paying 425 delivered. I used Bud's Gun Shop for my XD45compact paying 478 delivered. In both cases I used a local pawn shop for transfering, as I found them to be way cheaper than "gun stores." Got them transfered for a fee of 35 total each. O, this will vary depending on where you live but I payed NO TAX doing it this way.

I go to the local Springfield Dealer here. He is the dealer for SA for all Southern CA LE Agencies, LA, SD, etc.
