Berretta Magazine that fits the XD
I was once purusing the good old internet for some high cap mags for my little XD 40 and was unable to find anything above 12 rounds. I did however come across a post on some message board that said there was a berretta magazine that happened to fit the XD, I forgot the which berretta model the individual said worked... has anyone ever heard this, if so which model, or better still does anyone know of a place to purchase at least a 15rd 40 cal. mag?

Berretta 92, sig 226 mags work with the xd if you cut the front hole for the mag catch. But it really is not worth it since the mag sticks out of the bottom and you can break your ejector.

I don't know for sure about the .40, but a Beretta 92 mag is what fits my XD-9. That is also the same mag as a Taurus PT-99.
The mags still have to be modded a little to work. You have to cut the hole for the XD's magazine catch. Hope that helps.

While at the range, I did look at a used Beretta mag. It rests right on the extractor, which would be a no no for me. I'd rather use the weak springed SA OEM mag anyday than mod a same priced Beretta mag.

Hehe, when I replied the first time there were no other responses, better late than never huh?
In the Cheaper Than Dirt catalog they had a couple of different brands of XD mags pretty cheap, and the factory mags were only about $25 for 15 rd .9mm mags. The gun shops around here want $35-$40 for factory mags.

I dont recommend using Beretta mags. Like what was previously said you take a chance on breaking your ejector if you slam it home plus the one I tried would not lock the slide back on the last round.

I have an aftermarket Beretta 92 magazine converted for use in my XD40 my analysis: waaaay more trouble than it was worth. If you had free Beretta mags then it may be worth your time, otherwise just use the factory magazines, not that expensive and work great.
