the point is, you need to know the laws in your state, and you need to confirm your target prior to any action on your part. period.

That blue font is a bit much...notice that everyone else just uses the standard black font, size 2. There is a reason for that.

Thanks for informing me, as I just bought my XD .357 yesterday and was up half the night looking for folks to chat about it with and learn from. I saw the thread and didn't start from the first page.

Much appreciated,

that reminds me...once I went to visit my brother in boston...he lived in a condo...I had to go by his house alone to look for some stuff we left behind...I didn`t remember the exact door....and was trying to open the one right next to it...I was like...wth...he gave me wrong key or what...surprised when a girl opened the door...and his dad was standing behind her.. ... I said...I think I got the wrong door.I moved to the next door..they stayed looking at me...and finally find my way in my brother`s apartment... but that`s a different story...I wasnt drunk..but trying to OPEN with a key...not breaking in...and it wasn`t midnight...

You still don't get it...please read the original post...you are side tracking the thread. It has nothing to do with someone banging on the wrong door or even trying to break into your sliding door. Those are both different circumstances that require different steps.

This thread involves the perp already being in the house...so stick to the original posts point or start your own thread!!!

Yes indeed...

Methinks he should let the MODS do their jobs...and if it is THAT off topic, the OP can certainly speak up...

i see you've just joined the forum, and that you haven't made that many posts, so let me take this moment to welcome you. i'm glad to see that you've joined, and that you are actively involved in policing the threads herein. i didn't know that you were a mod...that happened pretty fast, huh? we need more people like you around

now...i would consider any post in any thread that makes a relevant point about the thread useful. the dude's story highlights the importance of knowing your state's SD laws, as well as a very important point about property (insofar as much as a power tool is not worth taking a life). perhaps you disagree, but i don't really care. if you don't like a post, or think it doesn't belong, i would suggest ignoring it. or, alternatively, report this grave misconduct to a mod, who will likely tell you to go stuff it.

Do you just fire away or tell the guy to hit the floor or you'll blow is head off or what?

Personally, I think I would have told my wife to call the police, grabbed the 12 guage and once I encountered the intruder I think I would just shoot to kill. But then again who knows exactly how one would react if placed in this circumstance.

This thread is even title "Hypothetical on a home invasion", not trying to break in the door...so to deter from it's situation seems to be sidetracking it's intent for replys!

And it would seem your attempts at playing moderator have done more to derail this thread than the posts in question...
