If this ever happens to someone, the BG's lawyer is going to dig up this old thread and use it in court. I think its best not to bring up these hypothetical scenarios because it could come back to haunt you.

Or...maybe I'm just paranoid?

Only if ^someone^ rats us out. Good point though. "Preparation" will likely be used and twisted into "premeditation." Although I think if someone comes into your house and you use deadly force, it would be hard to prove that the homeowner "planned" the event.

Do you just fire away or tell the guy to hit the floor or you'll blow is head off or what?

Personally, I think I would have told my wife to call the police, grabbed the 12 guage and once I encountered the intruder I think I would just shoot to kill. But then again who knows exactly how one would react if placed in this circumstance.
Does it happen on Dec 24th?

I didn't necessarily mean premeditation, but more like "this person obviously was just waiting for the day to use their gun because they would sit around and talk about hypothetical situations on gun forums".

Like I said, I could just be a little paranoid.

Ahhhhhhh, gotcha. While this may be true, there are a lot of us out there as this forum proves. I think an adequate defense attourney would point out that we weren't "waiting" but rather "being prepared" especially if you live in a bad neighborhood etc. My .02

True. In that case, I would walk into the hallway, yell "say hello to my little friend", and unload a mag into the dirt bag.

There ya go! What judge wouldn't sympathize with that?

Do you happen to wear armadillo and tin foil helmets?

stay in bedroom, call 911, front sight on door, ready to unload. not worth it going out, just property. if kids/occupants elsewhere, clear the house and gather everyone. number of suspects unknown. type of weapons they have unknown.

I'd shoot 'em if the came to the top of the steps. They might hear a subtle click of the safety lever on my AK to "fire", but that's it. Everything I got except the Mosins are loaded with a round in the chamber--that includes the XD which is a backup gun for the rifles.
