TWO MONTHS!! But at least i can go pick it up tomorrow
So excited! It was about time. Can pick it up at the PD from 5-8 pm. Going to be there 450 pm and then shoot across north jersey to Jim Flynn to pick up the gun. Good day Jim

2 months?! Damn, you got express service! My PD gives me the stink eye when I pick up my applications and every time I go in after that.....my first permit took around 6 months to get through - they had a problem contacting my references is the excuse they gave. what county do you live in? I'm in Salem County, so you would hold that they would be more open down here....but then again the stupid North Jersey folks are getting closer every day.

i live in morris county. it should have been sooner, but they claimed to not have gotten paperwork from one of my references too! total bs, i know the guy at work and he's rock solid reliable. My father was a cop and knows the current pd so maybe i got the express service indeed. Either way, 1 month, 2 months, 6 months, its all ridiculous in my eyes. Once you get a firearms ID card checked out by the FBI, a pistol permit should max be a simple waiting period of something like five days.

in monmouth county, my first two took 76 days, but that was with the purchase card and pistol permits, etc.
follow-up pistol cards took 30-ish days.

The LAW says 30 days.... My fid took 18 months. Apparently my gun hating township doesn't do a damn thing till you start calling, Which I did at the 31st day... Then they were too busy... Then they sent the paper work out but haven't heard anything. Then the detective that does the gun permits retired and they don't know who is gonna do them now. Then they found a replacement and I had to wait for him to get "settled". Then he said that the state PD never got the paper work... I had to redo it all over and get another money order... Then they blamed it on the FBI... Then they got everything back and my permit was ready but the chief of police retired and he is the only one that can sign the permit. At this point I threatend to call the nra, and write the state attorney gen and gov and the permit was mine the next day... The worst part is I have friends that work at this department. They couldn't do anything for me and I didn't want to get nasty with the local pd cause I didn't want to cause any friction there..... Sadly my job is here and I am building a new house so I am stuck here for a while.

The absolute longest I have ever waited on a gun is TWO HOURS FOR WALMART to fill out the paper work.
The fastest is my local gun shop (1/4 mile away) and most of that was ME filling out the paper work. In and out inside of 15 minutes.
