Include an attractive and buxom Croatian babe with each pistol instead of the XD gear.

Change the color of the metal on the back face of the slide-top chamber indicator so it's more immediately obvious when a round is chambered. More like the striker indicator, where you can tell instantly because the silver colored pin is visible.
+1 to a .22 conversion or even an XD-22 model. +1 to a thumb safety ... but only as an option. Let people who want it, have it.** +1 to fixing the guide rod sticking out past the end of the service model. It looks like a nail that wasn't hammered all the way in. ** I taught my dad to shoot my XD a couple weeks ago. He's an old hand at hunting and taught me to shoot as a kid, but was a little taken aback that my XD had no manual safety. To him, that means "dangerous gun". People are different, let them have what they want. This is why cars come in different models, too. One size does not fit all.

According to world.guns.ru (really awesome hardware site) the extended guide rod was added by the Croatian engineers, and included in the first patent applications, as a device designed to keep the pistol from going out of battery when being pressed into a person's back. My friend and I tested this (dry firing triple checked empty guns into a table with sandbags underneath) with my XD-9 and his Glock 17. We determined that it will facilitate that, where the Glock will be pushed out of battery. However much use that may be, I am not sure. But it sure does look weird, I'll give you that. |

On and On ...
This thread can go on and on.
If they tried to make the XD everything for everyone then you would have and AR with all it's associated problems. Plus, I own a Jeep Wrangler. It is worse than a Harley and is a money pit for accessories and mods. I want to get a pistol where I want it with the least amount of money and stay there. My XD and PCR are close out of the box. Trigger, sights, finish, and a couple extra mags should be the only things you need to get it there if wanted and not needed. In time I am sure the XD will go through more changes and options. If they came out all at once then I'd have no X-Mas to wait on. |

1. 8 round single stack 45 ACP...who needs 14 rounds?
2. Get rid of forward slide serrations, and make rear serrations verticle. 3. Finish/machine slide to the end a la Glock, with generous beveling like the Glock 37. 4. Thicker, more rounded trigger guard a la Glock. 5. One piece stainless non-captive guide rod set up. 6. Black steel magazines. 7. Possibly finger grooves on grip a la Glock. That should do it, for now...Oh...and OD green slide to match OD receiver. |

I'd change/modify the slide stop.
With a high grip I'm always touching it. This causes the slide not to lock back on the last round. Lots of lost time during a match. Bang, bang ..., click. WTF? Tap, rack, bang.... Tried to modify my grip but always revert back to muscle memory during a match.

Extended beaver tail.
No trigger safety. No grip safety. Smoothed trigger guard front strap. Chopped grip. What you can't see on the otherside of the gun is the manual safety.
