Why would you do that to your gun?

No offense to you, of course. I just don't understand why people do stuff like that...

Im still actually out of town but I usually take my weapons to the local gander mountain where my buddy cleans them in the 'subsonic' cleaner. Dunk them in as is, and you can see the dirt and carbon just float away from the gun..

Oh...well that's a reasonable enough explanation.

Did you get the self-cleaning model?
Isn't that what SC stands for? I'd think it would be easier on a gun to shoot it continuously (like nearly daily) without cleaning for long periods of time, than to shoot it and put it up without cleaning it. Does that make sense? bd |

I only clean before matches or when the gun starts to act "funny". I also clean every 1000 rounds if the first two reasons don't happen before then.
Good pics.

I always enjoy looking at a well worn gun. It shows character. Not much fun for me to look at a BNIB XD. I like em w/ some holster wear, the tell tale scratch by the take down lever, and whatever else. However, I always clean my guns after a shoot. It is an enjoyable process for me. I take care of my babies, and they'll take care of me. Still, they're built like a tank.

I only clean the XD if something goes wrong (FTF, FTE, whatever). I have fired 4,070 rounds through it; Remington, WWB, my Cor-Bon carry ammo and tons of Wolf. I have cleaned it once (no it didn't malfunction, but my fingers were getting black everytime I messed with it). It hasn't burped on me yet.
I guess some guys think it's really cool when a gun works like it is supposed to. I don't see the big deal.
