XD Tactical for IPSC production?

Springfield lists the XD Tactical barrel length as 5.01"
Others have measured it to 4.997" or thereabout
The IPSC production list doesn't list any spesific XD models

So does anyone know if the Tactical is allowed for IPSC production? Or will I have to get the XD9 4" service model?

All XD's except the XD-Pro (Custom shop specials) are production class legal. I shoot an XD-9 Tactical that Canyon Creek built.

XD's in both barrel lengths make for exceptional production class IPSC guns. I would opt for the 5 inch Tactical though and yes its legal.

Re: XD Tactical for IPSC production?

I shoot my tact 40 in USPSA production, my understanding is that the USPSA only allows the 9 & 40 in their various forms but not the other calibers (I don't understand that either). On the IPSC side I believe all version are legal (except the ported version as JD stated).

Check out http://www.brianenos.com/forums , they have a rules sections where this is probably covered by someone from IPSC.

Send a message via Yahoo to mullanman
Both the 9mm .40 are legal. Both lega in USPSA and IPSC....they changed their minds regarding the single action.

BTW the Glock 34/35 have barrel lengths longer than 5".

Flanker from Norway. Welcome to the HS/XD funhouse.

If I recall, the HS Tactical and all XDs were included in the last change and are approved for IPSC Production. The IPSC list does not list specific models anymore, just the series "XD", "HS2000".

Thanks for all the replies so far... As you can see I'm from Norway, as in northern Europe. So USPSA rules have no relevance whatsoever in my case.

What worries me is that IPSC allows max. 5" barrels in Production, and Springfield has barrel length on the Tactical listed as 5.01" and that's over the limit. Meanwhile, others have measured the barrel on their Tactical and found it to be around 4.997"

So just to get this clear once and for all: IPSC allows the Tactical model in Production, even though the manufacturer lists the barrel as beein 5.01"? Yes or no (or should I just email IPSC directly)?
