Sending to Springfield

I am shipping my slide to Springfield to get refinished, and they gave me an RMA number. Is this something you give the post office for shipping costs, or just some internal number for Springfield so they know which customer it is.

Can someone explain the whole process to me? Do I just take the slide to the post office and send it to Springfield? I know it's a stupid question, but I remember people saying that Springfield covers shipping cost, so I wasn't sure if the RMA number was some way of them doing that.

Thanks.

I just did this earlier this week. They should email you a label confirmation, I think it comes from UPS or FedEx. I believe you print that out then put it on the side of the box. You have to put the RA on the outside of the box. Companies generally require this so they know it's a legit package. If the number doesn't check out, they refuse it.

Strange, she didn't send me a shipping label or label confirmation. Sje just said to write the RMA on the side of the box.

I'll email her and see if she just forgot.

Thanks, guys.

Well, I was having warranty work done. Otherwise I'd have to pay for shipping and whatever work SA was going to do.

Do what she said- put your return address, the SA address and write under it "RMA # xxxxxxxx" and send it. I shipped USPS Priority mail to SA and it took 2 days, they shipped back DHL and it took something like 4 days. Remove the barrel and spring, wrap the slide in bubble wrap or crinkled up newspaper, and you're good to go.

Is it possible that they aren't covering it under warranty since she didn't send me a label confirmation?

Here is a pic of the problem. It is not oil or anything and trust me, I've cleaned it. I use Hoppes and Shooters Choice on it. It's some kind of discoloration.

It is the discoloration along the slide and on the top around the hole for the pin and around the barrel shroud.

My wife's pistol needed a refinish and they covered the shipping. I was just saying that if you were getting the slide hard chromed or something, then you would have to pay shipping and for the process.
