And, there is no matching a .22 to gun with forensics...or so I've heard.

The only reason a .22 is the "perfect" gun for a professional killer is because the professional assassin puts the gun in the target's ear and double taps. Very few would survive that. But in a gunfight???

Anyone who would choose a .22 pistol--even if it were a .22 magnum--for a self-defense weapon is, no offense and my opinion only, a fool.

(And if you ask me nicely, I'll tell ya how I really feel...)

I never understood that part about our legal system, can your friend counter sue for the legal fees?

That's a good question. If it is possible I would go for it. It's sad that people that break into your house actually try to sue.

Another Urban Legend of a sort.

Many times the soft lead .22 slug is severely deformed from hitting bone. This makes obtaining an accurate match very hard. But then there have been .22 slugs fired through the skull that are almost perfect when recovered.

Programs like CSI lead people to think that it's very easy to match a bullet to a firearm. Sadly in many cases this is not true. Many modern pistols hollow points deform enough to make obtaining a match very difficult.

That's why I included the "so I've heard" part. I've never considered myself an expert.
