My XD40 is point of aim rather than 6 o'clock. I don't know if that's in part due to the Trijicon sights I have on it, or what, but I shoot low if I try 6 o'clock. That said I shot a guy at the range's 9mm XD, and that did have slightly more of a 6 o'clock sight picture, but not to the extent that Springfield's manual shows.

I'm pretty new to my XD, and I started trying to get it to work at 6 too. But after about 20 rounds I could tell it wasn't going to work. So now, I tend to start point of aim with a new gun and adjust from there. It seems like most seem to be closer to poa than whatever their manuals say. This may be in part due to the ranges that pistols are typically shot at. My range doesn't go out to 25 yards, but perhaps at that range the sight picture would change.

What do you mean by 6 o'clock sight picture? Don't recall that and right now I can't find my manual, but I do tend to shoot low.

Just remember, if you shots are low/left you are probably jerking the trigger and/or anticipating recoil. If you want to straighten out your POA/POI then bench the gun.

It is possible that I am jerking it to the left. BUT that would not explain why my laser sighter shows the sight off that way when the gun is sitting still and not being fired. I trust the sighter, it has informed me that most all the guns I shoot poorly on were sighted off from the factory. ( Not all these are XDs just two) Some of the guns have adjustable sights and I was able to correct them. Two (the two I shoot best) did not require sight adjustment as the sighter shows them spot on.
The XD9mm Tac does not have the reg partridge factory sights, when I ordered it, I requested tritium night sights. These sights are probably what are making the gun shoot off. The back sight is off and needs drifting to correct, and it is not set to 6 o clock aim but POA/POI.
Don't have to pull the trigger to tell this, laser sighter tells it all. My last trip to the range only verified what the laser sighter was telling me.
Shooting the gun POA/POI does give good target results where as 6 o clock sight resulted in consistent misses.

Again, no need to send ammo down range to see or test this.

Figueres A & B are 6 o'clock sight pictures.
Figure C is a mix of 6'oclock & POA sight picture.
In true POA Sight picture, front sight completely covers chosen target point.

Yes it does! Thanks! That's what i thought but guess I hadn't heard the term 6:00 o'clock.
