Question safety for 08 XD's , option or all have?

Looking on the Springfield web site it shows the new for 08 safety, is that a option on the XD's or is it standard on all of them now?

If I remember correctly the safety was/is only offered for the XD-45 and is not on any of the others.

If they put it on all the models I would be very disappointed. I think they are plenty safe the way they are now. Keep your finger off the trigger.

me also...thats one of the main reasons I was looking into a XD. I couldnt find anything specific on their website that showed which models it came on or not.

Zebmez, you are mistaken. I have the 5" Tactical with the thumb safety.

The safety is for the 45ACP only at this time. It is available as an option. It is available on the 4" Service Model AND the 5" Tactical. When it was first offered it was only for the black XD's. I have since seen it offered on the Bi-tone models.

I had a gun shop order me an XD-45 4" Service a couple weeks ago and it did not have the thumb safety.

It's an option, presumably so more people will buy them. I'm sure it cost SA pocket change to implement, and it opened up the XD market tot hat many more people.

I'm sure a lot of PD's also have a requirement for manual safeties.
