England to Outlaw Knives now, too

Arrest in London murders of 2 Frenchmen

LONDON — British police arrested a suspect early Saturday over the brutal stabbing murders of two French students.
Officers detained a 21-year-old man on a street in southeast London at about 3:40 a.m. (0240 GMT), police said. He was being held at a London police station.
Police would not say whether the arrested man was the prime suspect in the case, and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Laurent Bonomo and his friend Gabriel Ferez, both 23, were bound and stabbed to death at Bonomo's rented apartment, near where the arrest was made, on Sunday night. Bonomo had been stabbed nearly 200 times while Ferez received nearly 50 stab wounds. Their bodies were then set ablaze to destroy evidence.
Both were promising bioengineering students taking part in a three-month DNA research project at Imperial College in London.
Police said Friday the murders may be linked to the theft of two PlayStation game consoles, which they believe were taken from the apartment the night of the killings. A laptop computer was also stolen from the apartment six days before the attack.
The brutal killings have shocked a country already worried by a spate of knife attacks involving young people. Eighteen teenagers have been stabbed to death in London this year, and police in the city say the fight against knife crime has overtaken terrorism as their top priority.

They've been doing this for quite some time now. They're also doing random stop and searches on the general public looking for contraband and weapons.

What I view as sad is how this equates to running a prison.

If you've ever watched on of the MSNBC shows about aby prison they've been to, or know anyone working in DOC ... It is a constant battle to keep prisoners from making weapons.

yeahYeah is right about registering butter knives. They can be sharpened, as can a stick, toothbrush etcetera.

So, why don't we help Breat Britian build an Escape From New York style wall around that little island across the sea. Contain their population and them remove all objects that can be used as a weapon.

I should have visited London 20 years ago ... The way that city has changed .... I have no interest in visiting a prison ..... Security cameras everywhere and armed guards on constant patrol .... F that!
I've got a prison within a few miles driving distance. If I ever get that curious ... I can't see spending the money to go across the sea.

That is exactly why I keep a can of pickled beets on my nightstand.

I hate pickled beets! If someone breaks into my house I will use the can of pickled beets on the guy. The media will surge up because of the dangers of pickled beets. Soon they will be banned and I will never have to see them again.

sporks

I heard that restaurants over there can't even serve plastic sporks because they pose " a clear and present danger" to the public.

Dianne Fienstein supposedly wants them outlawed in CA, too.
