Hi there..my XD 9mm was disappointing in the beginning but, as I shot it more, it got better and better, It certainly has shown a preference for CCI Blazer (brass, not aluminum). WWB is a little erratic.

Could yours be a lemon? Definitely. I have a Bersa in 9mm which is very accurate and has never had any failures of any kind.

My son in law and his father own the .45ACP model and it has also been flawless. I received one .45ACP as a present and had to send it back for repairs twice, in as many trips to the range.

So try another kind of ammo and if that doesn't work, send it back. I'm sure they will get it right for you.

Good luck with your choices.

it's 100% defective and you should immediately pack it up and send to me for safety reasons

but seriously, did you clean it down good to make sure there were no factory imperfections? If so...shoot some more and see if it tightens up. if not then it needs a nice trip to IL

I could be wrong but I'm willing to bet that barrel has a bad crown on it. You can check the crown by putting some white-out on the muzzle and shooting 15-20 rounds through the pistol. If the crown is good, you should see an even pattern from the powder residue on the white-out. If the crown is not cut square, you will have more printing on one side of the muzzle than the other. As a rule of thumb, vertical stringing is caused by incorrect fitting of the breach end of the barrel. A random or shotgun pattern is an indication that you have a problem at the muzzle end.

Whatever the cause, a 12" off-hand group is unacceptable at 15 yards.

I'll shoot it benched one more time and send the targets in to Springfield with the gun.

Kaboom...don't diss my Glocks buddy. Right now their whooping a$$ on the XD.
Lemons happen. Period. The precious Glock can even produce a lemon. The most important thing is that Springfield will talk care of it promptly, no questions asked.

I truly hope your right, because I honestly do like the way this gun feels and shoots, except for the accuracy factor. I'm trying different ammo ASAP, then if necessary, it's off to Springfield. As long as they fix it and don't jerk me around, I'll chalk it up to bad luck and forget it.

I agree with powder river. It's most likely a bum muzzle and your barrel needs replacing. I'm sorry you've had this experience. Please take my word that the XD-9s can be very reliable and accurate weapons.

I also should note quickly that I shoot 5" groups with WWB at 15yds and 3" groups when using Fiocci and Federal.

Yes they do (Glock),..the 2 that were lemons are being displayed all around the World.. they still can't explain such a rare phenomenon

Hey RicePaddy, since you're a big Glock fan, you might use one of these (I know you guys need it more often then anyone else):
