Bump Firing Your XD

Has anyone ever tried bump firing their pistol?

I just tried today with my XD40 and my M&P 40sc. I couldn't get the XD to rip but the M&P went through 5-6rds! Granted i only tried 2 clips in each, it's pretty damn neet!

I was wondering what pistols might work better than others and why?

I noticed the trigger on the XD seemed to have to travel much further to reset than the M&P which might be one reason.

If you've tried this what kind of gun did you use and what caliber.

I'll try to get a video posted, there are a few on youtube i saw too.

Yeah i was a bit learly of doing this and was thinking the same thing. I was careful (as one could be doing this) and it wasnt bad at all nor felt unsafe really, kinda felt like a G18! I do agree with you 110% about what your saying and thank you for your concern considering anything can happen.

Bump firing is when you try to put constant forward pressure on the back of the grip while also putting constant backward pressure on the trigger. The recoil will hopefully pull your finger off the trigger just enough to reset the seer and cause you to fire another shot when the slide returns to locking position.

Basically it makes your gun act as if it is full auto. But if you don't have really good phisical control over the gun, it can shoot places you don't want it. Even if you have really good control, it will fire all over the place. It's a bad idea in general, but it sounds and looks pretty cool. It's fun to do once . Go youtube "bump fire"

I guess I do not understand how you maintain pressure on trigger and grip safety. How does that differ from a standard single shot?

Basically you stick your left or right finger in the trigger guard and use your other hand to get a normal grip. Push forward with the grip hand, back with the trigger finger. The recoil should push your finger off the trigger just fast enough for it to reset, while the forward motion of your other hand promptly fires it.

If the video that was posted is what I think it is, it shows it well.
