Welcome from Colorado
What ... The problem is that he resides in the Republic of Massachusetts, so Glocks are not sold to civilians. What the heck makes Glocks any different than XD's... yet another law without any substance

I grew up on Mass and Springfield Armory does not sell any guns in Massachusetts due to the regulations, none are approved or certified by the state. So you can rule the XD out.
His options are used Glocks, or new SW MP pistols , Sigs, Rugers, Para, but no XDs......... Glad I am in Texas now. Here is a link to the best dealer in Mass, they are friendly and have the best prices. As a matter of fact they have a line out the door on Saturdays. Guns you cant buy Guns that you cannot buy in Massachusetts New Handguns you can buy. New Handguns at Four Seasons in Woburn, MA Last edited by boxerdog : 06-30-2008 at 03:07 PM. |

Reading those links made me really angry. All gun manufactures that are on that list, shouldnt even bother. In fact if I was them, I wouldnt support their law enforcement. I wouldnt sell anything to MA, just like Barrett did to CA law enforcement agencies. Its just a shame.
I dont even want to tell my brorher to get the M&P, just cause is made in MA. |

I like my XD better. It fits my hand better and I shoot it better. That said, the M&P actually has a better trigger in my opinion. The pluses of the M&P trigger over the XD: - Its break is more crisp (not 1911 crisp, but a lot more crisp than the XD) - The overtravel is shorter - The reset is shorter and it resets right at the breaking point so as soon as it resets, it's ready to break again (unlike the XD which has some take up after the reset before its ready to break again) The minuses of the M&P trigger over the XD: - Its gritty (the take up is gritty and feels gravelly, though I've been told that this smooths out after a few hundy rounds) With all that said, I like the XD better because: - When I grip the M&P properly, there's too much of my index finger in the trigger guard; even with the largest backstrap in place I have this issue and push shots low and to the right. I don't have this issue with the XD - 13+1 rounds of .45ACP. My opinion... hope it helps!

The only people that are really hurt with regards to not selling in Mass are gun owners, as law enforcement has other channels or means to buy firearms other right from the gun maker.
It sucked when I live there, I did own some Sigs , an ak and other firearms, sometimes in life you work with what you got. I would rather be limited in firearms, than not be able to buy any. Check out the MP , if I hadn't bought an XD, I would have gotten that or a Glock 19. |

Boxerdog, what part of Mass you lived at? My family lives in Springfield? I lived there till I was 18, then I joined the army.
It always amases me the great histoy and contributions that Springfield, Ma (the real Springfield Armory) made to the firearms world, and their important roles in making rifles for some of our most significant wars, and now the state is so antiguns. I probably visit the museum when I go this weekend, and help my brother choose a gun for him. |

I grew up on Cape Cod, more specifically Barnstable. I have been to Springfield a few times, Six Flags and the Basketball hall of fame. There is too much state government that is against gun owners, but when I was there I did often write to my state reps and got positive feed back, I just dont think that enough people do that. Also the reason why there laws ended up the way that they did was because one pro gun group (not nra or goal) didnt sue the state when they could, so NO action too place against the laws. These gun laws are consumer protection laws , enacted by the attorney general so they could be reversed. |
