Once its chopped your down to 10 rounds just like the 45 compact though.

40 is cheaper but not by much (at least around here.)
Same here--you'll save maybe a buck per box of 50. You'll have to shoot a lot of boxes to make up for that $75 grip chop (plus shipping, I assume).

Thats Fine I would still prefer the .40 over the .45.

Ill have to look into getting the grip professionally chopped.

There are site sponsors who do it, Springer Precision is one, the could be others.

I'd try it myself if in your situation, but I've had success with other, smaller projects on the XD and the "confidence factor" is there, plus I have the dremel and lots of other tools. As my Dad used to say, "measure twice, cut once".

If your concern is recoil with 45 vs 40, it's a non-issue. 40 is a less expensive round to buy if you plan to shoot a lot. It's definately potent, the Sheriffs Department here shoots 40, and a guy I met in CHP said "The Sheriffs get all the good stuff". I personally went 45acp since I hunt wild pigs and want it as a backup for cougar and possibly bear while bow hunting.

ya i dont think i have all the right tools around, and the first thing i wanna do after getting a new gun is to foul it up and have to order a whole new grip... just to do it again.

Ya I saw the springer site, i might "pull the trigger" on that.

Wow bad pun but o well
